Course Contents
Basic knowledge of Microsoft Windows 10 operating system. Office 365 modules: word, excel and power point. General indications on how to present a thesis. Hints of content research on the internet and bibliographic research in the health sector on specialist resources.

Learning Outcomes
The module aims to provide the skills necessary for a basic use of the computer and office automation tools necessary for the drafting of a degree thesis. The student will acquire the basic notions of bibliographic research in the health sector and elements to create an effective presentation.
Prerequisites
The course is basic, hence no specific knowledge is required
Teaching Methods
Presentations in MS-Powerpoint format.
Practical lesson and exercises supported by on-line documentation available through the e-learning platform
Additional Information
Lessons will be delivered in the computer lab and students will be assisted by the teacher for the resolution of problems that may arise during the exercises.
The module enriches and complements the theoretical informatica module with practical aspects.

Assessment Methods
The exam consists of an oral test where the student will have to comment on what has been done for the drafting of a mini thesis on a topic of their choice relating to the course of study

At the end of the course, students are able to:
- carry out scientific research using internet
- avoid the most common errors related to the drafting and discussion of a thesis
Ability to apply knowledge and understanding
At the end of the course, students are able to apply the knowledge acquired to:
- use office automation tools for writing a thesis: writing a complex document (MS Word), spreadsheet (MS excel) and presentation (MS Power Point)
- perform simple data analysis and manage the graphical representation
- carry out research on the internet in the biomedical field on sector databases

Transversal skills
At the end of the course, students are able to:
- Distinguish between research results from scientific, reliable and generalist sources
- Prepare an effective summary document or presentation
Knowledge and skills are verified through the drafting of a paper that will be discussed, in the technical aspects, during the oral exam
