The textbooks and examination are the same for attending and non attending students.

The course aims to address the main themes of the sociology of communication, adopting a gender perspective and offering an in-depth thematic look at online masculinities and in particular at the phenomenon of the manosphere. The objectives of the course are, at a basic level, to acquire fundamental concepts and knowledge about 1) communication and its various forms from a sociological point of view; 2) the application of a gender perspective to the study of communication. At an advanced level, the objective is to be able to critically interpret certain aspects of contemporary online communication phenomena from a gender perspective.

Students with disabilities, DSA, BES, once they have made contact with the University Staff, can contact the teacher in charge of the course in relation to the declination of the examination methods, with regard to teaching aspects.

The examination will consist of a written test with closed-ended questions (multiple answers, true/false) and open-ended questions.
The assessment will take into account: knowledge and comprehension of the fundamental concepts (60% - pass grade); ability to make connections between the different topics addressed (15%); ability to elaborate and write a text using the appropriate terminology (15%); ability in critical reasoning and argumentation (10%).

By the end of the course, students will have acquired, ad a basic level, the fundamental concepts underlying the sociological perspective on the study of communication; they will be familiar with the main theories around the different forms of communication; they will understand the concepts underlying the application of a gender perspective to the study of communication. At an advanced level, they will be able to navigate online social phenomena from a gender perspective.
