Themes and Issues in Greek and Latin Language and Literature.

Students are invited to consult the bibliography provided in the two modules that make up the integrated course.

At the introductory level, the course aims to: Provide a solid understanding of the ancient literary context. Deepen knowledge of Greek and Latin languages in their morphological and syntactical structures from a historical perspective. Develop the ability to deconstruct preconceived judgments. Familiarize students with teaching methods for conveying this knowledge in secondary education. At the advanced level, the course aims to: Achieve an in-depth understanding of the ancient literary context. Attain a strong command of the Greek and Latin languages in their morphological and syntactical structures from a historical perspective. Foster advanced skills in deconstructing preconceived judgments. Offer a comprehensive understanding of teaching methods for transmitting this knowledge in secondary education.

Knowledge of Latin and Greek at the high school level.

The course will involve lectures and class discussions.

o achieve the foundational knowledge, skills, and competencies, students are expected to demonstrate: (Knowledge and understanding): A fundamental understanding of Greek and Roman literature and the main morphological and syntactic structures of Greek and Latin. (Ability to apply knowledge and understanding): The capacity to adequately translate Greek and Latin texts and contextualize them within literary history. (Judgment autonomy): The ability to express judgments on texts and their critical interpretations, critically discussing their reasons and limitations, particularly from a historical-political perspective. (Communication skills): The ability to present concepts and data clearly and orderly, using appropriate language, avoiding rote repetition, and navigating themes autonomously, also considering effective pedagogical communication. (Learning ability): The ability to utilize methodological tools provided in class (for attendees) and to refer to resources available on DIR and the exam bibliography (for all), to identify fundamental thematic nuclei.
