SPANISH LINGUISTICS and SPANISH LANGUAGE TRAINING II.

On the theoretical level, the courses aim at providing students with a theoretical awareness in Spanish phonetics, phonology, morphology and morphosyntax. On a practical level, the aim is the acquisition of a competence in the Spanish language corresponding to CEFR B2 level.

Students must have passed the exam of SPANISH LANGUAGE TRAINING of the 1st year. It is also recommended that they have passed the exam of GENERAL LINGUISTICS (1st year). A solid knowledge of linguistic and grammatical analysis of Italian is also required.

Lectures and seminars. Workshops and language laboratories.

At the beginning of the academic year, a Vademécum ー including detailed information about exams, exam calls, SEN, Erasmus, etc. ー is published on each DIR page of the courses of Spanish Language and Linguistics. Students with disabilities, learning disabilities or special education needs, once they have contacted the University Staff, must refer to the tutor in charge of the course to define the examination modalities, concerning academic aspects.

Written and oral tests (see more details and evaluation criteria in the relative syllabi). The overall evaluation will take into account the two partial courses. Since this is an exam that closely integrates the two partial modules, the final evaluation will correspond to the average between the evaluations of the single parts. Please note: to pass the exam, students must reach the minimum grade (18/30) in all its parts. *** As for the module of SPANISH LINGUISTICS: in theoretical questions, students must prove that they are able to explain, in a concise form [but with congruity and awareness] the required content, citing consistent examples aimed at illustrating the phenomena, and expressing with precise terminology and property of language. *** Regarding the module of SPANISH LANGUAGE TRAINING: Students will pass the first part of the exam if, first of all, they get at least 5 out of 10 points in the dictation; then, they will have to answer correctly to at least 60% of the grammar exercises and prove, in the written composition, a correct use of verb tenses, discourse markers, etc., and a good grammaticality of the writing [according to CEFR B2 level]. The oral exam will be passed if the student is able to have a conversation about quite complex topics [also related to the mandatory readings], using grammarly correct forms. The final mark is based on the average of the grades of the written and the oral exams. To pass the whole exam, students must reach the minimum grade [18/30] in both its parts. LEARNING SUPERVISION IN ITINERE: In-class and at-home tests on the course topics; grammar tests [with exercises], compositions, dictations, oral comprehensions and translation. Synchronic, diachronic and diatopic analysis of Spanish phonetics, phonology and morphosyntax, also from a contrastive perspective (with Italian). Standard language, dialectal varieties, socio- and historical-linguistic issues. Spanish grammar, oral and written comprehension and production. For details, see the programs of the two modules.

Knowledge, skills and abilities related to the two modules are integrated both on a theoretical and a practical level: 1) knowledge about Spanish phonetics, phonology, morphosyntax; 2) knowledge of word formation processes in Spanish and the fundamentals of Spanish inflectional and derivational morphology; 3) ability to identify and justify, using the appropriate linguistic terminology, specific grammatical phenomena of standard Spanish and its varieties; 4) ability to apply theoretical skills in practical use, producing both written and oral texts that are correct from the grammatical point of view and in the use of communication strategies.
