The course will develop knowledge and understanding of the fundamentals of transnational law with reference to the activities of private and public operators in the tourism sector. It will also provide the ability to apply logical schemes and operational knowledge in the regulation assessment (public sector) or contracting and compliance (private sector).

For those attending: lecture notes and supplementary materials provided by the teachers. For non-attending students: to be agreed with the teachers, given the vastness of the subject and the absence of a single reference text.

The course aims to achieve the following objectives at a basic level:
- knowledge and understanding: Knowledge and understanding of the fundamentals of transnational law with reference to the activities of private and public operators in the tourism sector.
- communication skills: Development of transnational technical-legal language.
- study skills: Ability to use the specific language, tools and concepts acquired during the course.

At an advanced level, the following objectives:
- expression of judgements: Development of skills related to the analysis of socio-economic issues in the tourism sector and tourism businesses from a transnational legal perspective.
- Ability to apply knowledge and understanding: Ability to apply logical frameworks and operational knowledge in regulatory analysis (public sector) or in contract law and compliance (private sector).

Lectures, analysis of case law and exercises of cases. Lessons will be completed by powerpoint, case studies or in-depth analysis; discussions in the classroom and on the University teaching platform DIR – Didattica Online.

The examination is written. It includes a number of open questions that will focus on aspects of public tourism law and on aspects of private tourism law, taking particular account of what has been explained in lectures and the contribution made by the students themselves during their active participation in the course. A thorough knowledge of tourism legislation is required. In order to achieve a sufficiency grade (18/30), the student must know at least the basics. Honours are awarded on the basis of an assessment of the accuracy, depth and elaboration ability of the answer. The student may also choose to present and discuss a final report associated with a practical case developed during the laboratory hours. This presentation will be averaged with the written examination.

The course will explore three groups of topics: 1. The regulatory regulation of tourism activities in different European and non-European legal systems. 2. International contracts in the field of tourism. 3. Regulatory quality and regulatory impact assessment.

In order to acquire sufficient knowledge and skills, students must demonstrate knowledge of tourism law, tourism organisation in different countries, and tourism activities under current Italian, European and international law. They must be able to navigate current tourism legislation and clearly report on its content. For advanced knowledge and skills, students must be able to independently assess concrete problems relating to tourism and its activities, linking them to current legislation, as well as being able to explore issues relating to the quality of regulatory legislation, identifying its application profiles and critical aspects.
