The course aims to deepen skills in Spanish linguistics and to refine the use of the Spanish language for professional and academic purposes, particularly in tourism (LM 49). From the basic level of simple knowledge and application of specific terminology, analytical tools and notions acquired in class, in the analysis of texts of different natures; up to the conscious knowledge and application of the methods and tools offered, on different text types.
The aim is the acquisition of an intermediate linguistic competence (CEFR B2 level), adequate to the academic contest and needs.

Students must have passed the exam of SPANISH LANGUAGE TRAINING of the 1st year.

Lectures, seminar lectures with analysis of examples; the course also includes the preparation of example materials on DIR
Language exercises and workshops, individual study. The course is based on the material contained in the texts listed in the bibliography and extra material distributed in class or uploaded onto the DIR platform. Other activities will be carried out in class to reinforce and consolidate language skills in order to achieve the course objectives. Students will be constantly invited to work on error, as a source of enrichment in language learning, and on language self-awareness. There will be activities with discussion of errors, presentation of exemplary cases. + Workshops and linguistic labs, exercises, homework and other practical activities that aim at the improvement of active and passive linguistic skills and competences [reading, listening, writing and speaking].

Every year, a Vademécum is published on all the Dir pages of Spanish Language and Linguistics, providing detailed information on exams, appeals, DSA and compensatory measures, Erasmus, etc. It is compulsory reading for all students.

Written and oral tests for the individual modules. Since this is an exam that closely integrates the two partial modules: the average between the partial ones. It is in any case necessary to obtain at least 18/30 in both partials.
Written exam (2h): 1) two open-ended questions, on the main phenomena covered (specialized languages; linguistic description of traits of Spanish for tourism; relations between genres and specific linguistic traits in tourism); 2) analysis/production of a short text belonging to the genres examined.
Evidence with the following will be evaluated as excellent: an organic and in-depth view of the topics covered in the course; developed analytical and synthesis skills; excellent command of specific vocabulary and linguistic concepts; theoretical elaboration skills through the rich use of relevant examples. Fair evidence: only sometimes mechanical knowledge of the subject; appropriate and correct language; the ability to analyze and synthesize; good use of exemplification in relation to theoretical exposition. Sufficient evidence: basic knowledge of the syllabus (notions and method), often expounded in mnemonic form, but with an awareness of the methodology and data acquired; basic and correct use of terminology; presentation of appropriate examples within the scope of the subject matter. Insufficient evidence (1 at least of these traits): major instructional gaps; mislearning of notions/concepts or methodology; inappropriate language; the pure reproduction/listing of notions or definitions, lacking the required conceptual connections; lack of orientation within the topic examined; scarcity, absence or incorrect use of examples.
Foreign language practice: 1) Dictation and written test on Spanish grammar [duration: 3 hours], which consists of approximately 10 grammar exercises and 1 written composition [around 200 words]. 2) Oral exam, aimed at assessing the acquisition of linguistic knowledge and communicative competences [CEFR B2 level], starting from the mandatory reading. *** EVALUATION CRITERIA: Students will pass the first part of the exam if, first of all, they get at least 5 out of 10 points in the dictation; then, they will have to answer correctly to at least 60% of the grammar exercises and prove, in the written composition, a correct use of verb tenses, discourse markers, etc., and a good grammaticality of the writing [according to CEFR B2 level]. The oral exam will be passed if the student is able to have a conversation about quite complex topics [also related to the mandatory readings], using grammarly correct forms. *** The final mark is based on the average of the grades of the written and the oral exams. To pass the whole exam, students must reach the minimum grade [18/30] in both its parts. *** LEARNING SUPERVISION IN ITINERE: In-class and at-home tests on the course topics; grammar tests [with exercises], compositions, dictations, oral comprehensions and translation. The course integrates the study of specialised language in the field of tourism in Spanish-speaking countries (communicative characteristics, text genres, contrasts with Italian, translation problems, etc.) and in-depth study of the language as a tool in accordance with the objectives of the intermediate level (second year), which include: completion of the verbal system and overview of syntactic structures; listening and text comprehension, written and oral production. [LE0041] By the end of the course, students will know and recognise linguistic and extralinguistic data needed for an interlinguistic communication according to CEFR B2 level. Moreover, they will be able to: 1) comprehend the main ideas of complex oral and written texts concerning abstract and concrete topics; 2) interact fluently with native speakers; 3) produce clear and detailed texts on a wide range of topics, and express their point of view and debate about pros and cons; 4) use profitably textbooks and other written and oral material, also available online.
