Course Contents
VBA (Visual Basic for Applications) is a language related to Visual Basic that can only run through a host application (Excel, in our case).

Using VBA, we can do almost anything imaginable with Excel.

In the elective course you will learn how to use VBA and build programs that can interact with the end user by building UserForm.

Learning Outcomes
This short course will extend your knowledge of Excel beyond Microsoft Excel: Level 1 and provide you with the skills and knowledge to produce more effective and productive workbooks.

This Elective course (15 hours) assumes no prior programming knowledge and builds a solid foundation of the skills and knowledge required to learn to read and write industrial VBA code in Microsoft Excel. You will gain an understanding of the background knowledge (and more) a programmer should have, in order to successfully learn to program Excel VBA macros and functions.
Prerequisites
Good working knowledge of Excel.

Assumes prior skill and knowledge required to create, edit, print and chart simple worksheets, as well as understand ranges and the copying process.

You should be also familiar with the basic functions of a computer operating system such as navigating the environment using a mouse and keyboard, starting applications, copying and pasting objects, formatting text, creating folders, opening and saving files, familiarity with the accessing the Internet and web browsers.

Teaching Methods
Lectures require the student to have access to VBA Excel and to be able to create USERFORM.

Assessment Methods
The student must present a short report and discuss the solution of a real case that requires the construction of a User Form and the use of VBA.
Group projects (maximum 3 students per group) is allowed.

Outcomes
By the end of this course, you should be able to have a working knowledge about the use of VBA and the use of Userforms.

In particular, you will be able to:
discuss the elements of human logic manifest in Excel’s user interface, and some of the ways those elements manifest in Excel VBA
implement those elements in VBA functions and VBA macros for Excel
describe the Microsoft Excel Object Model and VBA concepts
begin to catch errors with basic debugging.
