The course aims to offer students the fundamentals of italian
constitutional law, with constant references to the history and current
events of the Italian political and constitutional life, in order to develop their critical analysis skills.

There is no prerequisites.

The lessons mainly follow the method of frontal teaching, however always seeking dialogue and comparison with students. Class attendance is
strongly recommended.
Attending students have the opportunity to take advantage of exercises on the four parts of the course.

Students are invited to refer to the Dir page of the course for supplementary materiale and support of the lessons. The teacher and a tutor are always available for any clarification during the lesson and reception hours and by email. The exam is written (open questions), with the possibility (up to 24/30)
access to an oral examination.
Written exam consists of four questions
open (on history; form of state and form of government; system of sources;
constitutional rights and obligations), with two hours of time available (subject to specific needs: see "other information").

I. HISTORY CONCEPTS AND BASIS of modern constitutionalism and the Italian constitution - II. Form OF STATE AND FORM OF GOVERNMENT: Italian constitutional system in the framework forms of state and government; form of government: electoral body and electoral systems; parliament; government; President of the Republic; constitutional court; judicial power; autonomy of local authorities, unions of states. - III. SYSTEM OF SOURCES: criteria that solve the antinomies between sources; interpretation of regulatory texts; constitution, constituent power and constitutional review power; ordinary law; abrogative referendum; government sources (law decrees, decrees legislative, regulations); regional sources; international sources, other sources legal systems, sources of the European Union - IV. RIGHTS AND DUTIES OF CITIZENS AND GUARANTEES OF CONSTITUTIONAL RIGHTS: form of state e rights; guarantees of rights; constitutional principles; freedom rights; social rights; constitutional duties.

Is expected,
from the point of view of KNOWLEDGE, the full knowledge of the Italian constitutional system; from the point of view of COMPETENCES, the capacity for critical analysis of the most relevant constitutional issues, emerging both from political-institutional life and from constitutional jurisprudence; from the point of view of ABILITIES, the ability to express one's knowledge through a written text.
