The course covers the following areas:
Regulations and Legislation: Acquisition of the specific regulations governing the nursing profession as they relate to the planning, organization, and management of human and material resources.
Forensic Medicine: Elements of criminal and civil law relevant to professional practice (crimes against the person, professional confidentiality, informed consent, professional liability, harm, and thanatology).
Ethics and Bioethics: Learning the theoretical foundations for a structured reflection on the ethical and bioethical dilemmas of nursing practice.
Business Economics: Understanding the structure, functioning, and socio-economic and financing mechanisms of healthcare organizations and nursing services.

The integrated course is aimed at guiding students toward the role of the professional nurse within the national health organization, identifying socio-economic, legislative/legal peculiarities, and bioethical implications. Specifically, the course helps reassemble the complex framework of the National Health System (NHS) and healthcare trusts, providing analytical tools for a deeper understanding of organizational dynamics and for reconstructing the organizational and managerial evolution of the health professions.

The learning assessment will be conducted in an integrated manner for all modules within the integrated course of "Organization and Management of Care Processes". Test Structure: Written integrated exam lasting 1 hour and 30 minutes. It consists of closed multiple-choice questions (60-64 questions with only one correct answer) and 2 open-ended questions. Ethics and Bioethics Section: Includes 12 closed questions evaluating knowledge and 2 open questions formatted as case studies where students must identify ethically/legally questionable behaviors and apply the Code of Ethics. Passing and Grading Criteria: The exam is passed if the student correctly answers at least 60% of the closed questions FOR EACH discipline and adequately addresses the open-ended case questions based on a specific evaluation grid. If a student achieves 95% overall correct answers, they will be awarded a grade of 30/30 (provided the 60% minimum threshold per discipline is met). If a student fails to meet the minimum threshold in any single module, they must repeat the entire integrated exam covering all subjects.

By the end of the course, students will be able to:Knowledge and understanding: List the main Italian laws defining the nursing role and boundaries (Professional Profile, Law 42/99, etc.); distinguish between different ways of organizing nursing work (task-oriented vs Primary Nursing) and hospital vs community care; understand the socio-economic peculiarities of the NHS and healthcare trusts; know the main medico-legal issues, laws, and health-related crimes. Applying knowledge and understanding: Properly assign care tasks to support staff (OSS) according to legal boundaries; follow clinical risk management and patient safety rules; apply principles of informed consent and professional secrecy, and properly compile a report for judicial authorities. Making judgements: Recognize risky legal situations or ethically questionable behaviors in clinical practice and daily ward routines. Communication skills: Use correct technical and healthcare terms when communicating with colleagues, doctors, and nurse coordinators; describe injuries in written and oral form. Learning skills: Autonomously look up official guidelines or legal regulations to stay updated, utilizing the CME (Continuing Medical Education) system.
