Aim of this course is to promote knowledge and understanding of the essential aspects (etiopathogenesis, clinical picture, differential diagnosis and treatment of selected disease of the central and peripheral nervous system. Particulary, attention will be given to the learning of neurological semeiotics.

The student has to possess basic knowledge in the field of anatomy, physiology and biochemistry of the nervous system.

The exam consists of a written test and an oral test.
The written test is made up of clinical cases with multiple choice questions on the scheduled topics, aimed at verifying knowledge and understanding of Neurology. Passing this test gives access to the oral exam in Clinical Nursing in Chronic Health and Disability.
The oral test aims to evaluate independent judgement, learning ability, communicative ability in explaining and making connections between topics. The student must be able to autonomously use diagnostic reasoning and critical thinking, using and correlating the knowledge learned, addressing in-depth discussion on specific healthcare aspects relating to two situations of people with disabilities and/or chronic conditions.

Disorders of consciousness and sleep, Delirium, Epilepsy, Neuropathic pain and neuralgia, Headaches, Vascular encephalopathies, Cognitive disorders and dementia, Movement disorders, Ataxic syndromes, Motor neuron diseases, Inflammatory and dysimmune diseases of the central nervous system, Neurological syndromes autoimmune and paraneoplastic, Encephalopathies and systemic diseases, Neuro-oncology, Myelopathies, Pathologies of the peripheral and vegetative nervous system, Muscle and neuromuscular junction diseases

The student must show adequate knowledge and understanting (and ability to apply them) of the essential aspects of the disease dealt with in the course,
