A.General Principles • Pathophysiology of hematopoiesis • Bone marrow transplantation and hematopoietic stem cells • Pathophysiology of bone marrow failure B.Diseases of red blood cells • Definition, pathophysiology and classification of anemias • Anemia by impaired synthesis of hemoglobin (iron-deficiency anemia, anemia of chronic disease, thalassemia) • Hemoglobinopathies • Anemia by impaired DNA synthesis (anemias deficiency of folate and vitamin B12) • Hemolytic anemias C.Hematologic Malignancies • The WHO classification of Hematological Malignancies • Acute Myeloid and Lymphoid Leukemias • Chronic Myeloproliferative Syndromes and Myelodysplastic Syndromes •Lymphoid Neoplasm (Hodgkin's lymphoma, non-Hodgkin's lymphomas, monoclonal gammopathy, chronic lymphocytic leukemia, hairy cell leukemia) D. Learning Outcomes
The objectives of the module are: 1.To learn and understand the etiology, pathophysiology, diagnosis of the main myeloid and lymphoid disorders 2.To learn and understand the main clinical manifestations, prognosis and some therapeutic outlines of the main myeloid and lymphoid disorders

The student must know the essential concepts of Anatomy, Biochemistry, Immunology, Pathology, and Semiotics.
