FRENCH LANGUAGE B EXERCISES III

The objectives are those recommended at C1 Level in the Common European Framework.

For students registered in the bachelor's degree in Modern Foreign Languages: passing the integrated exam of French Language II (language proficiency level obtained: B2 of the Common European Framework of Reference for Languages (CEFR).

Lectures supported by audiovisual aids (lecture-based teaching: approximately 50 per cent). Interaction between students, and between students and lecturers; in-class marking of exercises (interactive teaching: approximately 50 per cent). The course’s DIR page features exercises to be completed independently, as well as supplementary and in-depth teaching materials, which form an essential complement to the activities carried out in class.

The DIR service will provide a detailed programme, instructions for compulsory work, examples of written examination papers, translations, essay topics to be written, and reading materials.

The exam consists of a written and an oral part. The written exam consists of two separate parts, taken in two different sessions: a translation test from Italian to French and a written composition (essay). Written test procedure: 1- Duration of the test: 3 hours for each test. 2- Test structure and assessment method: a- Translation: mark out of 30; essay: mark out of 30; Final mark expressed out of 30. Minimum mark in the two individual tests to qualify for the oral test: 18/30. II- Oral exam procedure: 1- Duration of the exam: approximately 15 minutes. 2- Structure of the exam and assessment method: Structure of the exam and assessment method: In order to take the oral exam, students must submit the required assignment before the exam (to be agreed upon in advance). The oral exam consists of presenting and defending a point of view, based on a topic assigned by the teachers. Students will be given the opportunity to take an early oral exam, subject to the submission of the compulsory assignment, during the last lessons of the course, before the start of the summer exam session. In this case, the complete dossier (see the precise instructions uploaded to the course DIR) must be submitted to the teacher by May 2026. Those who do not submit their research on time will not be allowed to take the early exam under any circumstances. A maximum of 3 additional points may be awarded at the end of the oral exam. One point is awarded for the appropriateness of the speech and fluency of presentation, one point for morphological and syntactic correctness, and one point for phonological correctness, taking into account the set objectives (CEFR level C1). The overall mark for the French Language I course is calculated by adding the mark obtained in the written examination to the marks obtained in the oral examination. The ability to apply grammatical rules is assessed in both parts of the written examination and in the oral examination; the ability to produce texts is assessed in the second written examination; the ability to express personal opinions is assessed in both the second written examination and the oral examination. The ability to study is assessed in both the written and oral examinations.

The course covers the following techniques: 1. Translation from Italian into French of various types of text (48 hours per year, taught by Mme L. Vitroni). The translation course comprises Group A, which will focus on the translation of literary, journalistic and non-fiction texts, and Group B, which will focus on the translation of texts relating to the field of tourism. Students must choose their sub-group before the start of the first semester, depending on the focus they wish to give to their language training. Each group will sit a different examination. 2. Introduction to written composition and oral production in preparation for the oral examination (48 hours per year, course taught by Mme D. Sicco). The course comprises Group A, which will focus on the analysis of literary, journalistic and non-fiction texts, and Group B, which will focus on texts relating to the field of tourism. The timetable for teaching activities will be published on the course’s DIR at the start of the academic year.

Nello specifico: - Acquisire maggiore sicurezza nella produzione scritta e orale. - Avere una buona padronanza di due tecniche: quella della traduzione dall'italiano al francese e quella del tema. - Usare con duttilità i connettori logici; essere in grado di identificare i vari registri espressivi nonché le varie tipologie di testi. - Svolgere in modo autonomo approfondimenti e ricerche su argomenti vari. - Essere in grado di applicare le competenze acquisite durante il corso in vista della presentazione orale finale, attinente ad un argomento a scelta.Achievement of level C1 as defined by the Common European Framework of Reference for Languages across the various skills, adapted to the requirements of the course. Specifically: - To gain greater confidence in written and oral production. - To have a good command of two techniques: translation from Italian into French and essay writing. - To use logical connectors flexibly; to be able to identify the various registers of expression as well as the different types of text. - To carry out in-depth analysis and research on various topics independently. - To be able to apply the skills acquired during the course in preparation for the final oral presentation, on a topic of one’s choice.
