Course Contents
The course explores the concept of landscape from the perspective of tourism geography, examining its relationships with territory, the environment, cultural and natural heritage, and tourism practices within the framework of sustainable development. It introduces the fundamental concepts of landscape, territory, and environment, and examines different landscape typologies, including urban, rural, agricultural, anthropised, and garden landscapes, highlighting their role in the sustainable enhancement of tourism destinations. Particular attention is given to the links between landscape and cultural tourism, garden tourism, landscape protection, UNESCO World Heritage Sites, and the European Landscape Convention, as well as to the symbolic representation of places and its contribution to the identity and attractiveness of tourism destinations.
