1) Contemporary Political Theories; 2) The concepts of Power and Democracy and their problematic aspects; 3) Major political currents in their starting phase, until the crisis and their transformation; 4) The Globalization and its consequences.
This course aims at reflecting on the main socio-political theories about the
contemporary age, with particular reference to globalisation and the coeval evolution of
the political theory, to the concept of power, to the forms of democracy. the crisis of representation and to the populism.
Moreover, the course will focus on the most relevant streams of the contemporary
political thought (liberalism, socialism,
communism, fascism, anarchism) and the
political philosophy (from classics to post-modernity).

The textbooks will be indicated by the
teacher during the first lesson, planning
specific and detailed paths for the students
attending the course.

The course aims at providing the students with the interpretation instruments directed
to understand the fundamental concepts of political philosophy and contemporary
political thought, in the light of a historical-theoretical approach, but even with peculiar
attention to the current socio- economic dynamics.

No preparatory course is required.

Students are expected to assimilate the contents of the books and re-elaborate the
subjects of the lessons on a critical basis, with particular reference to the history of political
thought.
