Learning Outcomes
The aim of this course is to focus on the main pathologies of the pediatric age with a particular mention of pediatric specialities. All paediatric diseases will be treated in three paediatric modules in a multidisciplinary, interprofessional and integrated vision of the main health problems of the paediatric age, not only focused on the disease but also on the child itself on his/her gender specificity and social context with his/her family.
Prerequisites
Students have to Know main physiology and
pathology knowledges of growth processes in
pediatric age.
Teaching Methods
Lectures and plenary discussions of clinical cases to develop the interpretation of diagnostic tests and clinical reasoning, starting from the knowledge acquired in the basic courses, declined in the pediatric age.
Assessment Methods
Oral examination.
Students have to demonstrate knowledge of treated
diseases and ability in clinical reasoning
Detailed Syllabus
Pediatric semeiotics: head-neck, thoracic, abdominal, neurological semiotics.
Auxology: pathophysiology of stature-weight growth and pubertal development. Low stature: endocrine and non-endocrine causes, growth hormone deficiency, Laron syndrome.
Allergology: pathophysiology, diagnosis and therapy of bronchial asthma, food allergies and atopic dermatitis.
Pediatric Oncology: notions of diagnosis and therapy of pediatric cancers
Expected Learning Outcomes
Approach to the main pathologies treated in the
course in terms of Knowledge, differential diagnosis
and therapy. Ability to apply knowledge through
clinical reasoning.
