Role of pathologist in tumor pathologies, in relation to diagnosis, prognosis and therapeutic indications; correct sending of
biological and cyto-histological materials; intraoperative examination, indications for the autoptic examination.

Learning Outcomes
Provide the student with the main anatomical-pathological notions in the field of the most frequent neoplastic pathologies and in particular the student is required to understand the meaning of some diagnostic procedures such as the intraoperative examination, the autopsy finding and the principles of tissue conservation.

Concepts of normal human anatomy and pathophysiology.

Training in dissecting room in small group of students
Assessment Methods
The test consists of a written multiple-choice test and focuses only on the topics covered in class or during exercises in the dissecting room.
Detailed Syllabus
General introduction on the meaning of pathological anatomy as a linking discipline between the basic sciences and the clinical disciplines.
Principles of macro and microscopic diagnostics, principles of cyto and histological diagnostics and autopsy.
Methods of treatment of biological materials and their conservation.
Intraoperative diagnostics, principles and aims
Diagnostic approach and main anatomical-pathological characters to the following neoplasms:
Breast, lung, colorectal, male and female genital urogenital tract, thyroid
Expected Learning Outcomes
At the end of the course the student should be able to correctly interpret a histological or cytological response in the neoplastic field, to know how to send biological materials and the role of pathology in oncology fields
