Course Contents
This course presents the development of the interpretation of disease, its prevention and its treatment from prehistoric and ancient times with a particular focus on dentistry.

Learning Outcomes
To gather information on the evolution of medicine and the health professions.
Prerequisites
The student needs a general historical background, as that acquired in pre-university education, and the information acquired in the previous years of the course.
Teaching Methods
Teaching classes and discussion.
Assessment Methods
Written examination on subjects discussed in class, with a multiple choice and oped questions test.

• Greco-Roman medicine
• Medicine in the Middle Age and Renaissance;
• The epidemics: Black Plague, Syphilis and Smallpox;
• Medicine and Surgery in the Sixteen-Seventeen Centuries;
