HISTOLOGY. Description of the main histological techniques (fixation and staining of tissues on slides). Histological preparation of biological samples: from the microtome to the light microscope.

Teacher's note

2) in recognising the morphology of the main cells found in the different tissues

The student is required to write a report in English on the laboratory activity performed.

- Introduction to histological preparations: solution preparation, sample dehydration, fixation, microtome cutting and staining
1) with Haematoxylin/Eosin
2) with Perls Prussian Blue
-Peripheral blood smear and staining with May-Grünwald Giemsa solution
- Microscopic observation of decorated specimens

Ability to process and recognise a tissue at the microscope, with description of cell morphology and function.
