Detailed Syllabus
Course Introduction. Review of the fundamentals of molecular biology. Eukaryotic cell: structure and functions. DNA, RNA, and proteins. Point mutations and gene rearrangements (chromosomal mutations). Examples of prenatal diagnosis (karyotype analysis).
Definition and classification of molecular biomarkers: diagnostic, prognostic, and predictive with examples. Stages of molecular diagnostics. Introduction to omics sciences. Overview of the role of artificial intelligence in diagnostics (machine learning).
Liquid biopsy as a source of biomarkers. Comparison between liquid biopsy and tissue biopsy. Applications and advantages of molecular diagnostics.
Diagnostic techniques. Practical exercises: PCR for mycoplasma identification. Flow cytometry: isolation of peripheral blood mononuclear cells and identification of T lymphocytes and B lymphocytes.

At the end of the course, the student will be able to:
