The German language course will cover the grammar topics related to the A1 level of the GCERL. It will also address the ability to read and understand texts of the same level.

We recommend the use of : Themen Aktuell Vol 1 Hueber Publisher. We recommend the edition from lesson 1 to lesson 5 including both the theoretical and the grammatical part. The text is easily available via the internet.

The course aims to achieve a basic level of knowledge of the German language

There are no specific prerequisites for participation in the course

Frontal lessons- Language exercises

Non-attending students are invited to contact the teacher to outline an individual course of study.

The exam will be divided into two parts: the first will be in written form and will focus on grammatical, morpho-syntactic topics addressed during the language exercises. The passing of the written part is a prerequisite for access to the second part (oral test) which will cover the topics related to the language to be used in normal everyday life practices. The written test shall be valid for one year from the date of support. After this period, in order to have access to the oral test, it will be necessary to repeat the written test. The final vote is given in thirties and is the weighted average of the vote obtained in the written part and that obtained in the oral part. For the oral test the required skills and knowledge are evaluated as follows: - sufficient assessment (18 to 23/30) : basic knowledge / acceptable content covered during the course; limited German language exposure ability / with uncertainties. - mid-term evaluation (24 to 27/30): good knowledge/ good knowledge of the content of the course; ability to express themselves in a suitable German. - very good assessment / of excellence (28 to 30/30 and praise): extensive knowledge / in-depth content addressed during the course; articulated exhibition skills / excellent in German.

At the end of the course The student must have assimilated the basic grammar of the German language and be able to support simple conversations about everyday life
