This course is intended for students with various levels of French who wish to make progress in the language and attain the intermediate level in the field of tourism.

Learning Outcomes
Attaining B1 level according to the Common European Framework of Reference for Languages (CEFR).
Being ready to pass the test for the ‘Diplôme de français du Tourisme – Hôtellerie – Restauration’
Prerequisites
It is preferable to have at least the A1 level in French.
Teaching Methods
The course consists of in-person learning during classes and self-study. Attending at least 80% of classes in person is strongly recommended for those whose level of French is at A1/A2 level.
Additional Information
In order to get extra credit, all students are invited to register at the Rosetta Stone portal using their university credentials (the service is free for Uniupo students). 10 hours of study on Rosetta Stone will be worth 0,5 pp.
Assessment Methods
The assessment is computer-based and consists of three parts: listening, reading and use of French (grammar and vocabulary) based on the course materials.

The course is divided into 6 modules, each containing grammar, vocabulary, listening, reading, speaking and writing aspects.

Expected Learning Outcomes
1) Knowledge and understanding. The course aims to develop linguistic competencies in various areas, including lexis and morpho-syntax applied to the field of tourism. It is expected that after the course students will be able to handle B1-level complexity texts and audio material with relative ease.
2) Learning skills. Students will be guided through the exploration of learning strategies in order to successfully apply the ones corresponding to their needs and abilities.
3) Communicative skills. It is expected that upon course completion students will be able to handle oral and written expression on the B1 level.
