Learning Outcomes
The course introduces the bases of tourism geography and leisure. The goals are to develop these themes:
- the tourist destinations (cities, regions, districts),
- demand and offer (tourist behaviors, images, market),
- international tourist flows (incoming and outcoming),
- tourism industry (hotel, transport, tour operators)
- the relationships between tourism environment, cultural heritage and landscape.
The student, thanks to classroom exercises, learns:
- the knowledges about the tourism regional geography and the tourism territorial organization,
- the methods to analyse the potential tourist markets (offer and demand).

Assessment Methods
The final assessment is e-test, composed in two parts: multiple choice questions (to evaluate the knowledge of some fundamental theoretical concepts) and open questions (to evaluate the analytical skills). The exam is passed with mark above or the minimum score 18/30.

Issues:
Definitions of tourism and tourist
Statistical sources to study the tourism flows;
Historical evolution of tourism;
Main tourist regions and destinations;
Domestic and international tourism demand;
Natural and cultural tourist resources;
Transport role in tourism development.
Main tour operators’ strategies
Organization and planning of tourist spaces.
Spatial Models (Miossec model, life cycle)
Expected Learning Outcomes
The course provides the basic geographical knowledge to analyse the territorial organization. The critical-reflective approach is used to understand the earth space. The student will be able to analyse the tourism organization on different scales (urban, regional and national) and the links between social and economic environment. Some study cases are presented during the lessons, the goal is to link the geographical skills with the practical knowledge. The student will be able to learn an appropriate geographical terminology
