Institutions of Roman Law. For attending students: Matteo Marrone, Manuale di diritto privato romano, publing house Giappichelli, in all its parts, without exception, plus the lecture notes. For non-attending students: Matteo Marrone, Manuale di diritto privato romano, in all its parts, without exception, plus Gisella Bassanelli Sommariva, Introduzione agli studi giuridici, publing house Maggioli, 1-182.
History of Roman Law. For attending students: the essays published on DIR page of the course, plus the lecture notes. For non-attending students: Aldo Petrucci, Per una storia della protezione dei contraenti con gli imprenditori, publing house Giappichelli, in all its parts, without exception.

Institutions of Roman Law.
Educational aims: the course is intended to provide students with the basic knowledge of Roman Private Law, enabling them to link the institutes of Roman Private Law with the corresponding ones of Italian Private Law.
History of Roman Law.
Educational aims: the course is intended to provide students with the knowledge of the legal structures of the enterprises in Roman Law.

To take the exam of History of Roman Law, you must have passed the exam of Institutions of Roman Law.

Frontal lectures.

Attendance in class is not compulsory, but is recommended.

Institutions of Roman Law: oral examination, with five or six questions about all the subjects of the content.
History of Roman Law: oral examination, with four questions about all the subjects of the content.
The grade of the exam of Roman Law is given by the average of the marks of the two parties (Istitutions of Roman Law and History of Roman Law) adjusted upwards.

Institutions of Roman Law.
The course will focus on the study of the following subjects: 1) the sources of Roma Law; 2) the private trial; 3) the legal transactions; 4) the persons and the family; 5) the rights in rem and the possession; 6) the obligations; 7) the donations and the succession.
History of Roman Law.
After a periodization of the Roman Commercial Law, the course will focus on the study of the following subjects: 1) the business relations and trade exchanges; 2) the bank; 3) the rendering of service; 4) the boat service and the Maritime Law; 5) the collective enterprise; 6) the competition; 7) the slave trade; 8) the crimes against public economy.

Institutions of Roman Law.
Basic knowledge of Roman private law; acquisition of appropriate legal terminology; ability to historically contextualize legal institutions, grasping their major evolutionary aspects.
History of Roman law.
Knowledge of the different types of businesses existing in ancient Rome, with particular attention to the legal, economic and organizational structures of these; ability to historically contextualize these different profiles and grasp their most important evolutionary developments.
