Reference Texts
The articles to study are defined by the professor with the students.
Learning Outcomes
The course aims to provide students with the knowledge of the fundamental principles of the protection of biodiversity of agricultural and food interest.
Prerequisites
No prerequisites required in addition to the skills acquired with the first year courses.
Teaching Methods
Frontal teaching with the help of slides.
During the course, some seminars explore specific issues and the students can participate in conferences organized by the professor or by UPO.
Assessment Methods
Attending students prepare a written presentation on a theme agreed with the professor and present it in the classroom. The oral discussion of the paper lasts a maximum of fifteen minutes and it is assessed with a mark out of thirty. The sufficiency is obtained by demonstrating to develop the assigned theme in an exhaustive and autonomous way. The ability to formulate critical reasoning, supported by knowledge of the issue and by an appropriate vocabulary, allows the student to achieve the highest grades. The mark obtained in this way is recorded as the final exam and it can be rejected by taking the exam again in the same way as non-attending students.
For non-attending students, it is required a written exam (sixty minutes to three questions, ten points each, to be answered briefly) concerning some articles indicated by the professor.
All students (attending and non-attending students) are thus expected to achieve a basic knowledge of the regulations for the protection of agrobiodiversity.
Detailed Syllabus
The International Treaty on Plant Genetic Resources and its implementation in Italy.
Law no. 194 of 2015.
The National Biodiversity Registry.
The National Biodiversity Network.

Expected Learning Outcomes
To achieve the skills and knowledge expected at the end of the course, the student is required to know the basic notions of agro-biodiversity and to reach the end of the course knowing how to examine and understand a practical case in order to find a concrete solution.
