Course Contents
The full program (10 cfu) is ideally divided into three parts: a first part of descriptive statistics to describe the observed characters; a second part inherent in the methods for analyzing the relationships between several characters; a third part concerning statistical inference, parameter estimation and hypothesis testing.

Additional Information
There are two types of exams: a 10-cfu exam (Degree in Political Science and Administration) and a 6-cfu exam (Single-cycle Master's Degree in Law).
Students can use written sources (lecture notes, notes, manuals, etc.). Multimedia sources are prohibited (tablets, smartphones, etc.)

Assessment Methods
Written exam with computational and theoretical exercises.
Detailed Syllabus
10-cfu and 6-cfu exam:
1) variables and frequency distribution;
2) mean and weighted mean;
3) median, percentiles and cumulative distributions;
4) variance and standard deviation;
5) joint frequencies between two variables and double-entry tables;
6) graphs to represent the relationship between two variables
7) covariance and correlation between continuous variables;
8) regression as a descriptive and predictive tool.
9) standardization of a variable and its uses;
10) Probability distributions: Gaussian normal distribution;
10-cfu exam only:
11) TCL and sampling distributions;
12) confidence intervals;
13) tests on mean and proportion;
14) tests on the difference between means;
15) the chi-square test;
16) The test on regression coefficients.
Expected Learning Outcomes
Students should be able to: read and assess statistical information; calculate descriptive indices, make estimates, verify simple statistical hypotheses.
