Course Contents
The course includes immunoescape mechanisms, transplant immunology, active and passive immunization and immunopathology (including hypersensitivity, autoimmune diseases and immunodeficiencies)

Learning Outcomes
To understand the mechanisms of immune evasion, vaccination, transplantation and the etiology and pathogenesis of allergic, autoimmune diseases and of immunodeficinecies.

Assessment Methods
Oral examination. Questions will cover both basic immunology and immunopathology aspects. A final evaluation will be proposed and the exam will be passed if receiving 18/30 or more, till 30 cum laude
Detailed Syllabus
-Immune evasion. Mechanisms of immune evasion of infectious agents and tumors.
-Passive and active immunization. Vaccines.
- Translplant immunology: types of grafts and mechanisms of rejection. Innovative therapies
-Type I, II, III, IV hypersensivity. Etiology, pathogenesis, examples.
-Autoimmune diseases. Etiology, pathogenesis, examples.
Expected Learning Outcomes
Knowledge of the immune system function in tumors, in graft rejection and of the pathogenesis of the immune-mediated diseases
