Course Contents
• Generalities of Anatomy of the musculoskeletal system
• Fractures and dislocations of the various districts of the musculoskeletal system and their complications (principles of treatment, nursing assistance to the bedridden patient after elective and trauma surgery)
• Pediatric orthopedics (Congenital hip dysplasia, Congenital clubfoot, Scoliosis and kyphosis, Epiphysiolysis, Flat foot, Pediatric traumatology, Principles of assistance to the pediatric patient)
• Osteoarthritis and rheumatoid arthritis
• Osteoarticular infections (osteomyelitis and septic arthritis)
• Low back pain (sciatica and cruralgia) and cervical-cervicobrachialgia
• Locomotor system neoplasms (exostosis, enchondroma, chondroblastoma, chondrosarcoma, osteoid osteoma, osteoblastoma, osteosarcoma, Ewing's sarcoma, giant cell tumor, non-ossifying fibroma, fibrous dysplasia, simple and aneurysmal bone cysts, multiple myeloma, bone metastases)
• Canalicular syndromes (Carpal tunnel syndrome, cubital tunnel syndrome, Guyon's canal syndrome, Posterior interosseous nerve compression)
• Osteoporosis

Generality of the musculoskeletal system (MSS) and MSSgeneral traumatic pathology.
Sprain traumas and dislocations, distractive traumas and musculotendon injuries.
Fractures: generalities and classifications; Nursing management of the fractured patient.
Complications of fractures, epiphyseal detachments; principles of treatment and healing of fractures.
Systematic treatment of fractures. Care pathway for fractures of the proximal femur in the elderly.
Pediatric orthopedics: Congenital Hip Dysplasia, clubfoot, congenital torticollis, scoliosis.
Osteoarthritis; Rheumatoid arthritis.
Low back pain (sciatica/cruralgia) and neck pain/brachial pain, canalicular syndromes.
Skeletal tumors; Bone and joint infections; Osteoporosis.
Expected Learning Outcomes
Knowing how to manage patients suffering from diseases of the musculoskeletal system from a nursing point of view.
