Students with disabilities, learning disabilities or special education needs, once they have contacted
the University Staff, can refer to the tutor in charge of the course to define the examination
modalities, concerning academic aspects.

The examination consists of a written and an oral test.
The evaluation carried out with a written test aims to verify the level of knowledge and understanding of the contents of disciplines and consists of 70 multiple choice questions regarding the medical disciplines. Passing this test (60% of all questions) gives access to the oral examination.
The oral exam, which takes place about 5/15 days after written test, aims to evaluate autonomy of judgment, learning ability, communicative ability in explaining arguments and in making the connections between subjects. The students must be able to use diagnostic reasoning autonomously, using the knowledge learned and demonstrating that he has understood them by discussing on care peculiar aspects of cancer patient.

- Diagnosis and Prognosis of most frequent tumors (staging, prognostic factors, tumor markers)
- Natural history, survival and response to therapy of most frequent tumors
- Principles of therapy:

toxicity and resistance mechanisms
- Breast cancer
- Colorectal cancer
- Lung cancer
- Brain metastases
- Bone metastases and pathological fractures
- Neoplastic effusions
- Peculiar aspects of oncological nursing: hypercalcemia, hydroelectrolytic alterations

Knowledge of:
• Natural history of the most frequent cancers and related risk factors;
• Relationship between cancer and lifestyles, diet, environment and possible occupational exposure;
• General principles for diagnosis and staging in oncology;
• Prognostic factors, principles of anticancer treatment and related toxicity;
• evaluation of performance status in cancer setting;
• General principles of palliative care.

At the end of the course the students must be able to give practical application to the above-mentioned knowledge in the different stages of the care path of cancer patient
