Learning Outcomes
The course will give the student the first notions concerning the main techniques used in chemical laboratories. After the theoric part will follow some practical exercises in order to deepen the topics and to allow the student to acquire the basic handedness useful in laboratory.
Prerequisites
There are no specific prerequisites although the knowledge of the basic notions of the main chemical reactions and general chemistry are very important. It is however necessary to follow the entire course and then to take the exam to be in compliance with the prerequisites provided for in the study plan.

Assessment Methods
3 ongoing tests will be used for a self-assessment of personal knowledge during the course, and specifically:
1. Self-assessment of knowledge at the entrance to laboratory exercises: theory (multiple choice-true false) + 2 problems on concentration calculation; maximum duration 30 min.
2. Self-assessment with 2 problems to solve on the last day of the laboratory on laboratory experiences. Maximum duration 30 min.
3. Self-assessment with 2 dosing problems + dosing theory (open questions). Maximum duration 1h.
Laboratory experiences will be evaluated with a maximum of 2 points. The final evaluation, which will be constructed like the ongoing self-evaluation tests, provides that each section will be evaluated out of thirty and the three parts will be averaged to which the 2 points of the laboratory will be added
Detailed Syllabus
LABORATORY SAFETY
LABORATORY GLASSWARE: use and maintenance.
MEASURES OF WEIGHT: technical and analytical scales.
MEASURES OF VOLUME: calibrated and graduated glasses. Expression of the concentration.
QUANTITATIVE CHEMICAL ANALYSIS: VOLUMETRIC ANALYSIS
-preparation of standard solutions by weighing and by dilution
-concept of titration (direct and indirect titration)
-standard solutions and primary standards
-determination of the end of a titration: equivalence point, end-point and error tritation
-concept of indicator
-chemical reactions of titrations: acid-base; redox; gravimetric; complexometric.
Expected Learning Outcomes
At the end of the course the student must have acquired the manual to carry out a titration and will solve problems of quantitative analysis
