Course Contents
Joint balance and muscle testing of all body districts: elements of biomechanics, axes and planes of movement, type of muscle contractions, anatomical and functional measurements, functional evaluation of all joint districts with particular attention to end feel. Evaluation notes of the "hand" district.
Identification of the main landmarks, recognition of the muscles examined and their innervations, notes on the concepts of dermatomes, myelomeres, distribution of sensitivity and main osteotendinous reflexes, distinction of mono-articular and bi-articular muscles, evaluation of muscle lengths and theoretical guidance on the execution of the TMM.
Analysis of the main functional movements with special in-depth analysis of Sit to Stand: definition, phases, kinetic and kinematic parameters, facilitating or hindering determining factors.

Learning Outcomes
The module aims to allow the learning of the principles that determine the physiotherapy evaluation of the joint balance, the muscle strength of the single or group of muscles and the main innervations. Furthermore, by watching videos relating to Sit to Stand, at the end of the module the student will be able to observe and evaluate the ways in which the healthy subject implements this postural transition and will be able to relate it to that of the pathological subject by identifying the critical components.
Prerequisites
Knowledge of anatomy (osteo, arthro and mine). Knowledge of joint kinesiology.

Presentations in MS-Power Point format, CD-ROM - Exercises in the simulation room. use of video recordings
Additional Information
During the practical internship, at the gyms of the various rehabilitation services, students will have to perform joint and muscle tests on patients under the supervision of clinical tutors
Assessment Methods
The exam will consist of a written test. Multiple choice quiz.
Detailed Syllabus
Objective examination of the patient: observation and evaluation. Joint balance and muscle test of all districts. Posture of the patient, fixation, resistance.
Mono and bi-articular muscles.
Examination and evaluation of muscle activity in some functional gestures.
Gripping techniques.
Basics of evaluation of the main sensitivities.
Innervation of individual muscles
