Histopathological lab: team and goals, safey, working procedures, how to handle the material;
Fixation, macroscopic examination and processing of histological and cytological material; morphological and histochemical stains in routine use; frozen section exam; general overview of digial pathology and tissue microarray construction (TMA) in surgical pathology

How to handle histological material; fixation procedures;
Sampling of histological material. The processing, Inclusion and cutting techniques. Frozen section examination and the cryostate utilisation. Staining with hematoxylin-eosin. Applications of dyes for connective tissue, mucopolysaccharides, lipids, amyloid, pigments, microorganisms.
Expected Learning Outcomes
Knowledge of the surgical pathology lab procedure, from the material arrival to the lab to the creation of a stained slides.
Knowledge of the principals morphological and histochemical stains, and how to use them.
Knowledge of the procedures and instruments used in the frozen section tissue examination.
