The course aims to provide a good knowledge of the main communication and writing techniques, taking into particular consideration the type of scientific training of the students and their more frequent academic and professional writing opportunities. For this, the main models of communication are examined, including the principles and maxims of communicating. In addition, the phases of writing are specified and the structuring of the text into paragraphs and paragraphs is deepened. The course also includes a description of the main characteristics of the Italian language, and an examination of the most common grammar and writing errors; these will be detected and monitored in different ways during the meetings, in order to promote a conscious and autonomous re-use by the students.

At the end of the course, students are expected to begin to grasp the importance of correct, clear and functional communication as an essential aspect of their scientific training and their future profession. Furthermore, they will have to know how to apply the indications provided and exercised during the course to the drafting of a text, in an appropriate way for the different text types and genres (with particular attention to the scientific essay). Finally, they must have largely filled the basic grammatical gaps and, above all, they must have increased their sensitivity to check and solve their linguistic-communicative difficulties.

• Notes on the history of writing and Italian (short focus on scientific writing)
• One hour of practice and references to the CV
