At a basic level the course aims to provide elementary geographical knowledge, methodological and content-related, in preparation for the analysis and interpretation of spatial organization, as well as the conditions. In particular, it provides the essential principles of the systemic approach and the main theoretical and practical criteria to analyse and represent the Earth surface - and the regions in which it is articulated - as a product of human activity.
A t a more advanced level, the course also provides the basis to understand territorial organizations, at urban, regional and national levels, as well as the key interactions between the physical, social and economic environment, allowing interpreting geographic differentiation of the relationship between man and nature as an expression of different social relations. Finally, more case studies are presented.

The exam is written and will be organized as follows: 1) checking the acquired knowledge on topics treated during the course, in relation to specific themes concerning Economic Geography; 2) check of the ability to apply knowledge and its understanding, by contextualizing the main examined phenomena , in time, space and in an appropriato geographical framework, the role of the economy and the political in shaping the organization of the territory; 3) check of the ability in expressing critical opinions on the natural and anthropic dynamics that cause territorial differences; 4) check of the ability in communicating acquired knowledge and in organizing a synthetic presentation of the main problems about the economic organization of the territory. The exam consists of five questions The grade is expressed in thirtieths. A paper that demonstrates fair or excellent knowledge of the subject will be graded as appreciable or excellent; one that demonstrates minimal knowledge of the syllabus and poor personal opinions will be graded as sufficient. A paper that shows formative deficiencies and an inability to contextualise will be graded as insufficient.

The course is divided in lessons of two hours, whose contents are: The geo-economic space: territory, regions, networks Different regional spaces The world and the globalization Economy and natural environment Population, work, migrations, society, culture Agricultural spaces Mining and energy space The industry International trade Cities Economic development.

The course provides the basic geographic KNOWLEDGE AND UNDERSTANDING the analysis and interpretation of the political and economic territorial organization and to link of the relations between theoretical and practical criteria to analise the space. The course provides ability to understand the connections between the territorial organization (regional, national and international levels) and the social and economic environment. The APPLYING KNOWLEDGE AND UNDERSTANDING provide by the couse are: cunderstand the connections between texts and geographical contexts, using the critical and methodological tools appropriate to the analysis; Ability to use the appropriate lexicon to communicate - clearly and effectively knowledge, information and opinions related to the topics dealt with. The inter-disciplinary skills concern to use the critical and methodological tools appropriate to the analysis of the texts considered.
