Students in the Corso di laurea magistrale who intend to take the exam on a loan basis and have already taken it in Corso di laurea triennale will instead need to prepare on one of the following choice volumes:

- M. Papini, Arte romana, Milano, Mondadori Università, Seconda edizione, 2021.

The aim of the course is to provide, at a first level, the basic knowledge related to Greek and Roman architecture and art history and to allow, at a more advanced level, the acquisition of competence and contextualization of archaeological data.

Basic knowledge of the outlines of Greek and Roman history.

Frontal lessons.
By stimulating questions and dialogues on controversial topics in the discipline, it is expected to elicit the active participation of students in the learning process by stimulating the development of a critical and autonomous spirit.

Attendance to the course is recommended.

At the end of the course there will be an evaluation test in the form of an oral exam, with a minimum duration of twenty minutes, tending to verify the achievement of the training objectives by: 1. Recognizing the images of the selected manual; 2. Descriptive capacity of the same; 3. Ability to relate the works with the cultural, artistic, and architectural contexts of the reference period; 4. Knowledge of the figurative and representative codes; 5. Possession of the specific terminology of the discipline. In particular, the following weight will be given to the verification of the achievement of the training objectives: 1. 20%; 2. 20%; 3. 40%; 4. 10%; 5. 10 %.

Making judgements: Analytical and critical skills on ancient architectural and artistic forms. 4. Communication skills: Knowledge of appropriate language for the subject. 5. Learning skills: Comprehension and evaluation of specialized texts.
