In terms of supplementary teaching, the Spanish Language I course has the general objective of bringing students to a level of A2+/B1 in receptive skills and A2/A2+ in productive skills, according to the Common European Framework of Reference (CEFR).
At the end of the course the student should be able to:
-Present oneself, express tastes, interests and preferences, give and ask basic personal information, talk about the family, express goals, plans, talk about skills and knowledge, talk about habitual actions, schedules and routines, talk about experiences, express feelings and emotions, talk about future actions, talk about travel, refer to past actions and events, describe places, objects, people from the past, talk about past habits, express agreement, disagreement and counter-argument, recount past events, evaluate, express opinions, advise, suggest, give orders, express wishes, needs, requests, etc.
-Comprehend and extract information from simple written and oral texts on known topics related to their fields of interest and to issues concerning globalisation, sustainability, sustainable development goals, marketing, advertising, tourism...
-Understand the main points of clear texts in standard language if they relate to known issues in work, study or leisure situations.
-Understand sentences and frequently used expressions relating to areas of competence that are particularly relevant (basic information about oneself and one's family, shopping, places of interest, occupations, etc.).
-Produce simple written texts on common, familiar or personally useful topics.
-Produce simple descriptive and narrative oral texts referring to personal experiences or known situations and stories.
-Describe aspects of the past, talk about the environment and describe experiences, events, desires and aspirations, as well as briefly justify opinions or explain any plans
-Able to talk about socio-cultural issues.
Students are expected to develop the five skills in an integrated manner (written and oral comprehension, written and oral production and oral interaction).

No prerequisites required

Lessons will always be held in Spanish and will be interactive. Work will be carried out in groups or in pairs. Dialogical interaction, oral comprehension/reading and written expression/production, oral expression/production will be important. Socio-cultural and socio-economic texts will also be worked with; commercials, short documentaries, interviews, short films will be analysed; articles on socio-cultural, environmental aspects, etc. will be read.

PER LETTERE:
Regarding the assessment, 60 points are calculated and divided by 2. 20 points are given for written production, 5 points for comprehension, and 7 points for morphosyntax exercises. It also depends on the number of exercises offered.

In order to take the Spanish I oral examination, you must have passed the written examination. The contents of the written examination will be those studied during the Integrative Didactics lessons. In addition to grammar exercises and communicative activities, a written production on a socio-cultural topic is planned. The use of a dictionary (neither monolingual nor bilingual) is not permitted. The grade for the written examination is valid for one calendar year.
Students in possession of a DELE Diploma (level B1 or B2) may take the oral examination directly, but must hand in a photocopy of their Certificate the first week of the course. The diploma must be official, issued by the Instituto Cervantes and recent (maximum two years).
The syllabus is the same for all students (even those who do not attend classes) and the written and oral tests will cover the same content.
COMMUNICATIVE FUNCTIONS AND LEXICAL DOMAINS
All the communicative, lexical and cultural contents contained in units 1, 2, 3, 4, 5, 6, 7, 8, 9 of the manual Pinilla, San Mateo, 2023, ELExprés, Libro del alumno, Third edition, Ed. Sgel.
All supplementary materials used during the course must also be considered.

The written and oral examinations are combined. The oral examination can be taken after the written test has been passed. You must be able to explain and comment on socio-cultural, socio-economic texts proposed during the lessons. The student must be able to hold a conversation in Spanish. The student must be able to interact with the teacher, expressing his/her point of view on the proposed topics.
There will be a written test (with morphosyntax exercises and written production activities) and an oral test on the contents covered during the classes.

-Understand and extract information from simple written and oral texts on topics that are familiar or related to learners' interests.
-Understand the main points of clear speech on familiar topics in work, study and leisure situations.
-Understand sentences and frequently used expressions related to particularly relevant areas of experience (basic information about oneself and one's family, shopping, places of interest, professions, etc.).
-Produce simple written texts on everyday, familiar or personal topics.
-Produce simple descriptive and narrative oral texts referring to personal experiences or familiar situations and stories.
-Describe aspects of the past, talk about the environment and describe experiences, events, desires and aspirations, as well as briefly justify opinions or explain plans.

Written test: eight morphosyntax exercises, one text comprehension, two written productions of 150/180 words on socio-cultural aspects covered in class - duration of written test 2 hours. Students must provide 60/62% correct answers (to achieve a sufficiency level), 81/82% (for medium level), 95/100% (for high level).

Oral examination: short presentation of oneself - conversation in Spanish on topics covered in class, i.e., socio-cultural, environmental, socio-economic aspects, reformulation of interviews, videos, proposed articles. Honours will be achieved if the student manages to answer the questions well, demonstrating ownership of the language, knowledge of the topics, ability to reformulate in their own words, without making a summary but showing the ability to converse and express their opinions. The final grade is given by the average of the result of the written test and the oral test.
