The general objective of the course is to strengthen the skills of international students in the field of Italian for universities. The course takes learners towards the C1 level of the CEFR.
Given the variety of skills and linguistic needs that characterize international students, Italian L2 activities are organized by level groups. The duration of each student's path is defined on the basis of the level of competence at entry.

The course takes students towards level C1
Being able to understand the fundamental ideas of complex texts on both concrete and abstract topics, including articles and reports on current affairs, contemporary narrative texts and technical discussions in one's field of specialization, in which the author takes a position and expresses a specific point of view;. Being able to produce clear and detailed texts on a wide range of topics and express an opinion on current issues, providing information and reasons for or against a particular opinion; know how to independently access self-learning resources to improve their skills

Level B2. Students with a lower level are invited to contact the teacher (www.clup o.it) to be guided on a path to strengthen their skills in Italian.

Online lessons with an interactive, creative and task-oriented approach.
Peer tutoring.
Orientation between resources and in-depth study of grammatical contents.
Self-learning activities also with the aid of the DIR platform.

The courses are organized by level and before accessing the courses there is an evaluation and sharing phase of the learning objectives.

The exam consists of a written test aimed at evaluating the acquisition of the main contents covered in the course and the achievement of an advanced level in Italian L2. The test is organized into activities of graduated complexity aimed in particular at detecting students' competence in understanding popular and academic texts, especially in written and oral reception; to supplement a grammatical part, always contextualized and linked to academic texts).

Communication functions
- articulately narrate events and experiences of the past, relating to oneself or others;
- make hypotheses;
- make predictions;
- argue an opinion or point of view in an articulated way;
- express agreement, disagreement;
- receive and give recommendations and advice;
- ask for advice;
- give and understand instructions;
- allow and prohibit;
- describe sensations and feelings;
- reporting the speech and thoughts of others;
- expose the contents of a text, written or oral.
Morphosyntax:
- combined pronouns;
- the pronominal particles ci and ne;
- simple and articulated prepositions, including those supported by the most commonly used verbs;
- the present, past and imperfect subjunctive depending on the verbs of opinion and verbs of sensation and feeling;
- the hypothetical period;
- the past subjunctive;
- the past conditional, also to express the future in the past;
- the remote past;
- high frequency pronominal verbs (leave, make it, take it, etc.);
- the passive form with being, coming and going;
- and the passivating si;
- indirect speech with main tense in the present and past;
- the gerund present in causal, hypothetical, temporal, modal and concessive propositions;
- the most complex forms of denial;
- the mechanisms of word composition.
Pragmatic skills:
- is able to follow and contribute to group discussions even when the discourse is fast and colloquial, recognizing and interpreting any nuances of a sociocultural or sociolinguistic nature;
- is able to consciously orient one's linguistic choices to express oneself appropriately with respect to the communication situation and the interlocutors, to reformulate an idea, to emphasize or explain a point;
- knows how to express themselves with confidence, clarity and courtesy in a formal or informal register;
- is able to start, maintain and end the speech by effectively managing turn taking, even if it may not always be done elegantly.

Ability to use Italian in all skills (oral and written, in reception and in production); ability to develop communication skills appropriate to different contexts; ability to use all multilingual and multicultural strategies and resources available to achieve a communication objective; ability to present study contents clearly and with appropriate language; self-study skills, knowing how to draw on adequate resources and supports.
