The integrated examination comprises two modules. The first consists of an annual language course of 96 hours (specialised French language exercises) aimed at developing and reinforcing the C1 CEFR level of linguistic competence in all the skills envisaged by the descriptors, with a focus on the technique of translation from Italian into French (48 hours) and on written composition on the basis of a thematic dossier as well as on the oral presentation of a topic related to issues addressed in class (48 hours). The second consists of a 30-hour module (Specialised French Linguistics A) characterised by a metalinguistic approach, dedicated to diatopic variation in France and the French West Indies, from both a diachronic and synchronic perspective, and involves the perusal of corpora of various kinds.

The integrated module aims to develop and enhance the CECR C1 competence level by combining a metalinguistic approach and an instrumental study of the French language.

Each of the sub-modules making up the integrated module comprises both a written and an oral examination. The assessment of skills and abilities takes equal account of the results obtained in the two modules: the final grade for Specialised French Language A is therefore obtained from the average of the marks obtained in the examinations for the two modules that make up the integrated examination.
Students with disabilities, DSA, BES will be able to use the necessary support tools during the written and oral examinations.

Knowledge and comprehension:
In addition to bringing learners to a full level of C1 CEFR proficiency in the various skills covered by the descriptors, the specialist French language A course will enable them to develop a metalinguistic and critical approach, with a focus on diatopic variation in metropolitan France and the DROMs (Antilles), in the morphosyntactic, phonological and semantic fields. It will also allow them to critically address the issue of cultural and linguistic stereotypes.

Ability to apply knowledge and understanding :
The learners will have a clear awareness of diatopic variation and will be able to adequately use terminology to describe, within corpora of various kinds, the various morpho-semantic phenomena analysed during the course. They will also be able to reflect on the issue of the translation of French regional variants. In particular, they will be able to make profitable use of the specialised dictionaries available online. The skills developed in the course of the exercises (composition technique) will also be reinvested in the written production envisaged in the linguistics module. Learners will thus be able to profitably combine the knowledge acquired in the two modules, which are complementary in that they complement each other on a theoretical and practical level.
