Master's Practice in French Language

For students enrolled in the Master's Degree Program in Languages, Cultures, and Tourism (LM49), both attending and non-attending:

To be able to analyze a collection of texts united by a common theme; organize a structured reflection based on the critical analysis of provided texts within a structured framework; present an oral research related to the topic of Tourism (literary tourism for LM37, tourism planning and management for LM49).

Language proficiency level B2 - C1.1 of the Common European Framework of Reference for Languages (CEFR).

The examination consists of two written parts and an oral part. First written test (duration 4 hours): written production based on a thematic dossier provided during the examination, relating to one of the topics covered during the course. Grading expressed in thirtieths. Second written paper (duration 4 hours): translation of a text from Italian into French (translation of a non-fiction text for the LM37, translation of a text relating to tourism for the LM49). Marking expressed in thirtieths. The written examination is considered passed if a mark of at least 18/30 is achieved in each of the two parts.
Oral examination (20 min.): To stand for the oral test, it is necessary to have passed the two scheduled written tests with a minimum mark of 18/30. Mode of the oral test: presentation and critical commentary of a non-fiction/journalistic text taken from a dossier prepared individually by the student. A maximum of three points may be awarded in relation to the mark for the written test (one point will be awarded for the congruence of the presentation; one point for grammatical correctness and language property; one point for expository fluency and phonological correctness, based on the objectives set). The oral test will be held with the lecturer in charge of the integrated module Specialised French Language A.

Preparation for the following techniques
1. Translation from Italian into French (literary texts / non-fiction / brochures relating to cultural tourism): 48 hours per year.
2. Written and oral comprehension / production: 48 hours per year.
2.1 Composition based on a thematic dossier provided by the teacher, as well as critical reading of articles and complex texts, with review of targeted grammar points at C1 level;
2.2 Oral exposition (a report of approx. 15 minutes, based on individual research).

- Acquire more confidence in written and oral production. Reinforce CECR competence C1 in the various target skills.
- Have a good command of two techniques: that of translation from Italian into French and that of written production (on dossiers).
- Use logical connectors with ductility; be able to identify the various expressive registers as well as the types of texts.
- Independently carry out in-depth studies and research on non-fiction and journalistic topics.
- Be able to apply the skills acquired during the course in view of the final oral presentation.
