Additional Information
Students with physical disabilities, Learning Disabilities or Special Education Needs can request specific services and tools via the Staff Sviluppo e Coordinamento Carriere e Servizi alle Studentesse e agli Studenti, consulting the University webpage: https://www.uniupo.it/en/services/services-students-physical-or-learning-disabilities. Once they have contacted the University Staff, they can refer to the tutor in charge of the course to define the examination modalities, concerning academic aspects.
Assessment Methods
Written and oral tests. The assessment of competences and skills will take into account both the results of the different tests and the competences as a whole. The final grade may (but not necessarily) correspond to the average between the parts.
It is in any case necessary to obtain at least 18/30 in both parts.
German Linguistics (LM37 and LM49): a written test (2 hours) with theoretical questions accompanied by a practical exercise analyzing and commenting on a proposed translation from German into Italian. A test will be evaluated as an excellent test: organic and in-depth view of the topics of the course; excellent analysis skills; excellent use of specific vocabulary and very good knowledge of linguistic concepts; ability to elaborate theoretically through the rich use of relevant examples. Good test: good knowledge of the subject both in terms of content and the specific terminology. Discrete test: mechanical knowledge of the subject with limited capacity for in-depth analysis. Sufficient test: basic knowledge of the subject, use of terminology that is not always adequate; limited number of adequate examples. Insufficient test: important and glaring gaps; incorrect learning of concepts or methodology; inappropriate language;

German Language Course_Master (for both LM37 and LM49): two written tests (4 hours each): 1) grammar and translation (from Italian into German) 2) reading and comprehension of a written text / written production. To pass the written part you must obtain at least 18/30 in both parts. An oral test (approx. 30 minutes): to assess comprehension/expression skills in German. The oral test starts from the comment on a text provided shortly before the beginning of the exam. To take the oral test you must have passed the written one. The final mark will be the average of the written and oral part. The written/oral test will be evaluated as excellent: excellent knowledge of grammatical topics, lexical richness, variety and morphosyntactic precision, excellent ability to render an Italian text in German translation, knowledge and use of various expressive aspects of the language (registers, style, pragmatic aspects). Good test: good competence both at grammatical level and from the point of view of translation, good written and oral production, use of a broad and adequate vocabulary and good stylistic and pragmatic uses. Discrete test: adequate grammatical and translation competence with some lexical, stylistic and expressive inaccuracies. Sufficient test: some grammatical and translation gaps, limited morphosyntactic, lexical and translation knowledge. Insufficient test: major grammatical and translation gaps, inadequate and very limited lexical use, poor stylistic and pragmatic competences.
Detailed Syllabus
The course integrates the contents of the didactic module German Language Course_Master and the German Linguistics module. Thus, the part dedicated to the in-depth study of specific grammatical aspects, to the reading and comprehension of written texts and to the comprehension and production of oral texts is associated to a part in which aspects of German linguistics relating in particular to translation are dealt with from a theoretical point of view.
