The course provides the basic knowledge necessary to organize and plan tourist itineraries. In addition, the knowledge needed to understand the relationship between transportation and tourism will be provided.

The course aims to provide the student with the basic knowledge necessary to:
- learn the characteristics of the main modes of transport and tourist services;
- create a tourist itinerary.
At the end of the course, the student will be able to:
- organize and choose the most appropriate modes of transport for the type of travel and tourist;
- know the different types of itineraries;
- create a tourist itinerary.

The teaching will be conducted through lectures, by the teacher or experts, and through exercises and group discussions.

The final exam consists of two parts:
- a Written test (in Italian) that will focus on the materials retrievable on the Moodle page of the course. The open questions aim to understand the basic concepts presented during the course and to know the student’s critical skills.
- Presentation of a group project (optional). The project must be prepared in teams of at least 2 and not more than 4 components. The students must deliver the group project by the date established by the teacher.
The grade obtained is unique and it will be the weighted average of the grades obtained in the project work (1/3) and in the written exam (2/3).

The course is divided into two-hour lessons and it is divided into two modules:
MODULE I - ITINERARIES
- definition of travel itinerary
- types and methods of construction
- Itineraries and tourist accessibility
- Itineraries and online tourism
- Cultural itineraries
- events and tourist image
MODULE II - LOGISTICS
- analysis of the link between transport and tourism;
- the characteristics of tourist demand for transport;
- tourist transport and sustainability;
- tourist modes of transport (air, rail, sea, road)
- Disused railways
- Greenways
- Urban transport

Through a written test, the following learning outcomes and acquired knowledge will be assessed:
- the main modes of transport;
- the characteristics of the transport demand;
- how to build a tourist itinerary;
- how to build thematic itineraries
The knowledge acquired will allow the students to:
- how to build both generic itineraries and those with specific targets;
- how to link the various types of transport;
- how to analyse an itinerary
- have developed the ability to reflect and make independent judgments on the problems related to the construction of an itinerary and the choice of the most appropriate type of transport concerning the type of journey.
