Bioeconomy as territorial regeneration case study Novamont S.p.A. Case study the wine sector.
Sustainable agriculture - intensive agriculture and related problems such as soil depletion, loss of biodiversity and excessive use of pesticides and fertilizers.
Strategies to address these challenges - innovative approach that considers the environment, human health and production efficiency.

Prerequisites
Basic concepts of Food Chemistry and concepts of Green Chemistry applied in the food sector.

The theoretical part is organized in lectures on the topics indicated in the content section. In the University's “moodle” platform, the lecture material projected in the classroom during the lectures can be found and downloaded.

The exam will be a set of multiple-choice questions aimed at developing the attitude to critical thinking of the candidate.

I. Introduction: The Global Context and the Need for Alternatives
Climate crisis, resource depletion, pollution.
Need for a new model of sustainable development.
Edible Insects: alternative and sustainable protein source.
Potential to reduce the environmental impact of traditional farming.
II. Bioeconomy as a Solution
Economy based on the use of renewable biological resources.
By-products: definition and classification.
Importance of their recovery and valorization.
III. Applications of Bioeconomy
Agronomic Use of By-products: direct use in the soil as amendments.
Indirect use: composting and production of fertilizers.
Compost Production Process from Grape Marc.
Soil Pollution and Bioplastics: problem of plastic pollution.
Bioplastics as a biodegradable alternative (Novamont).
Carbon Farming and No-Till Farming: techniques to increase carbon storage in the soil.
Benefits for soil fertility and climate change mitigation.
Bioremediation: use of microorganisms to decontaminate soil and water.
