Structure of the statistical survey, univariate and bivariate descriptive statistics, the presentation of statistical data in tables and graphs, the normal distribution, association analysis, correlation and regression, sampling from finite populations, notes on the use of the R application for descriptive statistics analysis

Learning Outcomes
The course aims to provide the theoretical foundations of descriptive statistics with an emphasis on the applied aspect through the use of case studies of statistical surveys analyzed with spreadsheets and with references to the use of the R application. The theory will cover univariate and bivariate descriptive statistics, association analysis, correlation and regression and basic notions of sampling theory from finite populations.

Written exam with closed and open questions and descriptive statistics exercises.
Detailed Syllabus
The structure of statistical survey, numerical presentation of statistical data, graphical presentation of statistical data, measures of central tendency, variability, concentration, statistical ratios and index numbers, normal distribution, association analysis, correlation and regression, notes on the theory of sampling from finite populations, notes on the use of the R application program.
Expected Learning Outcomes
Students will be able to use statistical concepts to construct the data matrix and employ the main data analysis techniques with a spreadsheet.
