Learning Outcomes
Knowledge, understanding and ability to apply the diagnostic value of the main techniques in the field of clinical neurophysiology.
Prerequisites
Adequate background knowledge in the field of neuroanatomy, neurophysiology, and biochemistry.
Teaching Methods
Standard interactive lectures, with audio- and video clips. Web-based teaching. Every lecture comes with its set of Powerpoint slides, which are uploaded at the "Didattica in Rete" ("DIR") UPO website. During the lectures, students are asked several questions. This tests the student attention, their previous knowledge and ongoing learning, and their understanding and potential ability to clinical practice. Training at the Clinical Neurophysiology Laboratory.
Assessment Methods
"Traditional" interview. The student is asked general questions on the tecniques listed in the program. The student is provided with paradigmatic clinical cases, and is requested to outline the investigational conduct. The anatofunctional bases and the overall diagnostic process are reviewed. The student is tested as for logic reasoning, and knowledge and understanding of neurolophysiologuical techniques. The student is also evaluated for his communication tasks, and the overall ability to deal with specific clinical cases.
Detailed Syllabus
Electromyography. Electroneurography. Electroencephalography. Cerebral Evoked Potentials.
Expected Learning Outcomes
The student will show an adequate knowledge, understanding, and ability to apply principles and techniques of clinical neurophysiology.
