The course includes the following topics: - Pathophysiology of intracranial pressure - Physiology of Baste Acid Balance -Anatomical physiology of the cranial nerve

Learning Outcomes
The objectives of the course are aimed at achieving the following objectives: ANATOMO PHYSIOLOGY OF THE INTRANIC SYSTEM - review of the macroscopic anatomy of the central nervous system and the anatomical-physiological correlations in order to integrate them to define the biophysics of the intracranial system - know the physiological mechanisms underlying the normality of intranial pressure and its possible changes in the event of pathological perturbations - hemodynamic variations in the intracranial system CRANIAL NERVES - review of the anatomy of the cranial nerves with specific references to the ongoing consequences of the main pathological expression of their damage - guiding principles for the clinical examination of their lesions EAB extension -The fundamental elements of the physiological acid-base balance of the blood -The mechanisms of variations and their compensations -The pathological consequences of the main variations and their corrections. -The transport of oxygen in the blood -The execution of blood gas analysis and its interpretation
Prerequisites
The student should have a competence on nomal human anatomy and of biochemestry
Teaching Methods
The lessons are held face-to-face with maximum interaction to facilitate understanding of the contents. The teaching material is delivered at the end of the lesson including the interactive videos presented during the course. As regards the interpretation of blood gas analysis, clinical cases are presented that require the interpretation and initiation of therapeutic basics

Assessment Methods
The final exam takes place within the Physiology 1 exam with a direct interview to the interpretation of pathological cases and interpretation of results of the EAB exam

EAB: The biochemical basis of blood gas analysis The determinants of their intended variations The compensation mechanisms and the role of physiological buffer mechanisms The clinical consequences of their variations The transport of gases in the blood CRANIAL NERVES The anatomical features of the 12 cranial nerves The functions of individual cranial nerves and their interaction and coordination of activities The basics of assessing PATHOPHYSIOLOGY OF THE INTRANIAL SYSTEM -Definition of the intracranial system - Summary of the main anatomical aspects -Physiology of the normal intracranial system -The causes that modify the normal physiology -Definition of intracranial pressure -The physiological values of intracranial pressure -Intracranial pressure measurement techniques cranial nerve function
Expected Learning Outcomes
From the course (1 Credit), it is expected that- the student: -understand the physiology of the intracranial system - know the normal human physiology of acid-base balance and its main changes and how these can impact on clinical conditions - associate their functioning and any associated pathology with the normal human anatomy of the cranial nerves
