Sociology of care and care networks

Acquire knowledge about current informal care and support networks, their roles, and interconnections with formal services. Develop the skills to analyze the needs of discharged patients in relation to their informal support networks, in order to provide them with the resources needed to navigate the system of services after discharge.
Gain knowledge and skills regarding relational dynamics with patients and their families. Acquire a "toolbox" that enables the interpretation of context and the ability to act without adopting ethnocentric perspectives, in order to effectively respond to care needs.

Interactive lectures and group work: reading and acquisition of new concepts, research of additional information, collective analysis and discussion. The work will be based on the analysis of specific cases and the identification of possible actions.
Individual in-depth study to be carried out at home.

Community welfare refers to the links and networks that exist between various care providers from the hospital to the territory and throughout the community. The aid networks, what are the essential difficulties, and what services are available after discharge

Medical anthropology and transcultural medicine concepts, case analysis, and possible responses/actions

At the completion of the course, students should be able to understand the patient's social and cultural environment in order to make informed choices about their care.
