Clinical features, pathophysiological and evaluation criteria of the severity of the main acute pathologies affecting the different organs and systems.
Ppatient monitoring in emergency room.
Early identification of "warning" signs and symptoms in various acute diseases.
Early identification and initial management of the most important complications.
Methods to actively assist critically ill patients: therapy, respiratory and cardiac support, collection of diagnostic samples and execution of diagnostic and therapeutic maneuvers.

To provide the knowledge for a correct nursing in emergency conditions, in acute diseases or in acutely decompensated chronic diseases.

Knowledge of the pathophysiology and of the main clinical manifestations of diseases interesting the different organs and systems.

Lectures based on Power Point presentations. Alle the files will be available for students on the "Didattica in Rete" (DIR) platform.

To support teaching, supplementary teaching activities are planned aimed at acquiring technical-gestural skills.

Students with disabilities, learning disabilities or special education needs, once they have contacted
the University Staff, can refer to the tutor in charge of the course to define the examination modalities, concerning academic aspects.

The assessment of learning will consist of a written and an oral examination. The written exam is a multiple-choice integrated test with 64 questions and is passed with at least 38 correct answers (equivalent to 60%). The written exam will take place in the computer lab and the questions will be presented in sequential order. Only those who pass the written exam may take the oral examination. The oral exam consists of the discussion of one clinical/nursing case in the field of emergency/urgent care and intensive care. Maximum time: 15 minutes. Evaluation criteria: 25–30 points: the answer is comprehensive, identifies the priority nursing needs/problems and manages them correctly; 18–24 points: the answer is partially comprehensive, identifies the priority nursing needs/problems only partially and manages them not completely correctly; 0 points (insufficient): the answer is not comprehensive, does not identify the priority nursing needs/problems and does not manage them correctly. The final grade represents an overall evaluation of the integrated course.

The student should demonstrate competence regarding the topics scheduled in the course. Speculative and pragmatic skills will be also tested during the examination in order to assess the application of knowledge in a practical context.
