The course aims to teach the physical basis of the radiotherapy treatment planning including the topics related to different planning approaches (forward and inverse planning), the delivery and the quality assurance of the special techniques. This denomination include the intensity modulated radiotherapy (IMRT,VMAT), the stereotactic ablative radiotherapy/radiosurgery (SABR), the intra-operative radiotherapy (IORT), the image guided radiotherapy (IGRT) with applications to adaptive radiotherapy (ART). The lectures will be integrated with practical demonstrations on planning and QAs on site. The aspects related to patient safety will be stressed in order to promote in the future RTT technicians the attitude to risk management.

To give a satisfactory general knowledge about the radiotherapy tretment planning modalities at their actual state of art.

No backgraund knowledge is necessary.

Frontal lectures and practical demonstrations.

Oral examination at the end of the course.

To obtain the necessary knowledge about the treatment planning and the modern delivery RT techniques to allow the RT technician to approach the RT environment.
