The course will provide the following contents:
- A general introduction to the basic English syntax and vocabulary which
could be useful in a Medical/Scientific context;
- an outline of the body systems, some major diseases and other general
scientific notions;
- an outline of more specific issues concerning various professional
specializations and, more specifically, dental hygienists, laboratory
technicians and radiology technicians;
- Basic tools for reading and writing academic contents;
- Basic tools for delivering an effective presentation in English.

The aim of this course is to provide linguistic strategies and tools for understanding and producing scientific/medical texts in English.
Therefore, students will mainly work towards enhancing written
comprehension and production. Conversely, spoken production will be addressed in the specific context of presentations.

The course is suitable for students placed within a A2-B1 CEFRL window.

Power Point Presentations
Video projector and laptop/desktop with Internet connection provided by
the faculty. Teacher-student and student-student interaction is also contemplated. Brief workshops will take place in which students will work on tasks in couples or small groups.

Possibly, the planned sections of the syllabus will be integrated
with contents provided by the students. The lecturer will set up brief
brainstorming sessions to gather such contents and add them to the
curriculum. Further activities will be communicated as the course unfolds.

Students will have to answer multiple choice questions. The exam is passed when 60% of questions are answered correctly.
