French Language I

The objectives are those recommended at B1 Level in the Common European Framework of Reference for Languages (CEFR).

Level A1 (basic user) of the Common European Framework of Reference for Languages (CEFR) for group B. Group B is generally intended for those who have only studied French at secondary school level. Placement in groups will be determined by a compulsory test to be taken via the DIR platform and verified during the first lessons of the course, based on language proficiency level.

Seminars with audio-visual aids. Activation of DIR service.

The DIR service will provide detailed programs, instructions for the obligatory work, examples of written tests, exercise sheets, and dictations to be made.
Students with disabilities or with Specific Learning Disorders (DSA) or Special Educational Needs (BES) may request specific services and tools dedicated to them by contacting the Career Development and Coordination Staff and Student Services and consulting the dedicated page on the University website: https://uniupo.it/it/servizi/servizi-studenti-disabili-e-dsa Students with disabilities, DSA, BES, once they have contacted the University Staff, may contact the teacher in charge of the course in relation to the declination of the examination methods, with regard to teaching aspects.

Separate written and oral tests. First written test: grammar test (\30). Only students who have passed the grammar test with at least 18/30 can be admitted the second written test (dictation /10); comprehension and expression /20). The final score of the written test is the average between the two tests. Only students who have obtained an average score of 18/30 can be admitted to the oral test. The oral test is based on the presentation of the obligatory work monitored during the academic year. Students will be given the opportunity to take advantage of an early roll-call of the oral test, subject to the presentation of the compulsory work as part of the last lessons of the course, before the start of the summer session. In order to take part in this appeal, you will need to hand in your research to the teacher by May 2025 (please remember to follow the instructions delivered on the DIR carefully and to respect the deadlines). Those who do not hand in their research on time will not be able to take part in the early roll call. Additional points awarded at the end of the oral examination may be a maximum of 3. One point is awarded for fluency of expression, one point for grammatical correctness, one point for phonological correctness, taking into account the objectives set (CEFR level B1).

Grammar course level B1; phonology: introduction to IPA (International Phonetic Alphabet), phonetic transcription from French into Italian and from Italian into French; preparation for dictation exercises; development of written and oral expression and comprehension skills. Acquisition of idiomatic expressions. Mandatory individual work will be monitored by the teacher throughout the course in order to submit to the oral examination, described in detail on the course DIR. Aim - Knowledge and comprehension. Attainment of level B1 of the language skill Framework. Ten hours of the course, conducted by Dr. Maurizio Busca, will be devoted to an in-depth study of grammar in a contrastive perspective (Italian/French), halfway and/or at the end of the course.

Achieve level B1 of the Common European Framework of Reference for Languages (CEFR) in the various skills and become familiar with the phonetic transcription of short utterances (from French to FIA and vice versa).
