The course aims at providing basic knowledge of Spanish for Tourism’s specific vocabulary and formal characteristics, as well as of Spanish and Spanish-American culture and civilization. Moreover, it aims at the acquisition of skills for the comprehension, re-elaboration and translation (Spanish-Italian) of Spanish specialistic texts (CEFR A2/B1 level).

Having already taken or, alternatively, having in their career for the current academic year (2025/26) the first year of SPANISH LANGUAGE.

Lectures and seminars with students participation.

For students from PROMOZIONE E GESTIONE DEL TURISMO (or other Degree Programmes) with a 12-credit exam of SPANISH LANGUAGE, such course is part of the integrated course EC0565 - LINGUA ED ESERCITAZIONI DI SPAGNOLO *** At the beginning of the academic year, a Vademécum ー including detailed information about exams, exam calls, SEN, Erasmus, etc. ー is published on each DIR page of the courses of Spanish Language and Linguistics. The reading of such document is mandatory for all students. *** Students with physical disabilities, Learning Disabilities or Special Education Needs can request specific services and tools via the Staff Sviluppo e Coordinamento Carriere e Servizi alle Studentesse e agli Studenti, consulting the University webpage: https://www.uniupo.it/en/services/services-students-physical-or-learning-disabilities. The acquisition of the course’s theoretical contents and competences will be assessed through a written exam, which includes: 6 short open-ended questions; 2 open-ended questions; 1 translation. The exam will last 2 hours. The use of a monolingual dictionary is permitted only for the translation. *** EVALUATION CRITERIA: The exam will be passed if, in the open questions, the student is able to explain the required content in a concise form, with congruity and awareness, expressing himself with terminological precision. The translation must show a correct rendering of Spanish morpho-syntactic structures and vocabulary (in particular, that relating to the field of tourism) and comply, at the same time, with the norms of standard Italian.

Elements of Spanish and Spanish-American culture and civilization (geography and geo-politics, traditions, gastronomy, tourism, etc.). Basic vocabulary, expressions and formal characteristics of the Spanish for Tourism.

By the end of the course, students will know: 1) Tourism basic vocabulary in Spanish; 2) the main linguistic, pragmatic and discourse characteristics of Spanish for Tourism [vocabulary, morphosyntax, etc.]; 3) fundamentals of Spanish and Spanish-American culture and civilization. Moreover, they will be able to: 1) comprehend and produce written and oral texts in Spanish regarding Tourism; 2) translate Spanish texts related to Tourism [CEFR A2/B1 level] into a correct standard Italian.
